The last time I made a jam was years ago, using pot and the stove. Now that I have a breadmaker, I don't need to go through the hassle of boiling the fruit on stove for an hour. The trusted breadmaker does it all. In fact, it turned out really good. The texture is even better than the jar of orange marmalade I previously bought.
There are many uses to this homemade orange marmalade. I served it in plain yogurt, I've also baked orange marmalade bun with it (a recipe which can be baked or steamed) and it's great added into smoothie. Alternatively, make a glass of 'marmalade tea' with it by adding 2tbsp into boiling water.
|Yogurt (also made w/ the breadmaker) and marmalade|
|Sweet orange marmalade bun with apricot|
300g peeled oranges
200g brown sugar (or less)*
2tbsp fresh lemon juice
1tbso corn flour (optional)**
*You may adjust the amount of sugar used in making your jam. The lesser the amount of sugar used, the shorter the lifespan of your jam.
**The addition of corn flour helps to thicken up the jam, making it looks and tastes like the commercially bought jam.
1. Place all ingredients (in the order listed above) in the bread pan.
2. Seect mode no. 10 for jam (果酱),the screen will display a pre-set timing of 1hr 20min. Press start (启动).
3. At the end of the jam cycle, check the consistency of the jam. If your jam turns out too runny, you may repeat the jam cycle a second time. Stop the cycle when you have achieved the right consistency.
4. Store the marmalade (cooled down) in a sterilized jar. The marmalade keeps in the refrigerator for about 2 weeks.
Serve it with bread, yogurt, cereal or in smoothie.
